On Wednesday night (17th October), I was supposed to go back and study. However, plans had changed.
The bus should have taken me to Oxford Circus. Unluckily, it didn’t go there and I got off the bus and waited for another bus. This time, I decided to go to Leicester Square. Even if had my heeled shoes, the weather was good (it wasn’t raining) and I thought that I could walk.
When I arrived to Leicester Square, there was a crowd in front of the Odeon Cinema. And more: Guards, spotlight and red carpet!
As I walk, I understood that it was the premiere of ARGO, the new movie with the film stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman. Ben Affleck is also the director.
I hesitated, but then I decided to get closer to take some pictures. That day I was wearing my jean skirt with heeled shoes. My mother always believes that being neat always works. Yes,it really did!
While I was approaching, a guard recognized me and gave me a ticket. I was shocked and couldn’t speak for a moment. Then, he told me to go ‘this way’ towards the red carpet ๐ I was so excited and I felt like everybody was looking at me as I walked in.
Before the screening, it took me a while to understand that it was 56th BFI London Film Festival. Here is the welcome talk from the director, Ben Affleck:
The next time, I hope that I’ll be a better cameraman ๐
We also had the film stars on the stage.
I like to watch the movies which is based on true stories. ARGO is about Tony Mendez rescuing six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Therefore, I liked ARGO as well. The bonus point for me is to see Istanbul on the screen with the Sultanahmet view. Nice!
I’ll end up with my favorite quotes from ARGO:
> Lester Siegel: “If I’m doing a fake movie, it’s going to be a fake hit.”
> Joe Stafford: Youโre asking us to trust you with our lives.
Tony Mendez: This is what I do, and Iโve never left anyone behind.
> Lester Siegel: Argo fuck yourself! ๐
